I already failed NaBloPoMo

This is post #2 for Sunday, November 4. I know that the rules of NaBloPoMo probably do not allow for multiple posts on one day to make up for previously missed days, but at least I'm trying!

Yesterday involved travel for the first half of the day, and a wedding during the latter half. (See the previous post for details on the wedding.) I know- excuses, excuses!

Today we drove back from the wedding through an area of California filled with orchards and citrus groves. I scored a 10-pound bag of mandarin oranges for $5. (Yes, for all of you mandarin experts out there, it is VERY early in the year for these to be in season, but the nice lady who sold them to me MADE me try one to make sure that I liked it!) We also stopped in olive country, and even though I'm not a huge fan of olives, I bought almond butter and the MOST delicious Lemon Orange Honey Almonds. I know, it sounds like a lot of flavors going on, but they are fabulous!

I am also taking home a bunch of homegrown lemons, so I will have to get creative in the kitchen to make something wonderful from all of these local, organic ingredients. And with that, another weekend in Northern California draws to a close...

Shame on you.

Not for failing the blog posting month challenge. For calling an area with citrus groves "Northern California."

I'm pretty sure that there are no citrus groves north of Corning.
